BLYTHE – Tomorrow, the Blythe community will come together for the one of the longest running events of its kind, the Palo Verde Valley Outlook Conference.
Now in its 67th year, the conference will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at the Fine & Performing Arts Center at Palo Verde College, One College Drive in Blythe.
The program is free and open to the public and is an opportunity for community members to learn about various issues, projects and topics impacting Blythe and the Palo Verde Valley.
Supervisor V. Manuel Perez is one of the opening speakers, and will welcome attendees and highlight efforts over the past year and upcoming projects.
“This is always a major event for Blythe, where the city, the county, local agencies, the Chamber of Commerce and the community get together to discuss the region and take a look at the future together,” said Supervisor Perez. “This is an event that started way before me, and I appreciate that we have continued this tradition. It’s also a tradition of the county, as we have quite a bit of our folks from the County of Riverside and our departments who come and engage and participate with the community.”
Expected to speak at the conference are:
• Blythe Mayor Joey DeConinck,
• Garth Dale, Chief of the Blythe Police Department,
• Aaron Hake, Executive Director of the Riverside County Transportation Commission,
• Mallory Crecelius, Interim City Manager for the City of Blythe,
• Timothy Nelligan, CEO of Ocean Pacific Energy Company, LLC,
• Allison Gonzalez, Assistant Director of Riverside County Department of Public Social Services,
• Dominique Samario, Communications Officer for the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, and
• Maria Gonzalez, President of the Blythe Chamber of Commerce.
There will be a resource fair and refreshments at 9 a.m., with a lunch provided immediately after the conference.
