RIVERSIDE – Patrick Evans, Chief Meteorologist for KESQ News Channel 3 and host of Eye on the Desert and a strong believer in community service, was honored today as Volunteer of the Year in the Fourth Supervisorial District by Supervisor V. Manuel Perez.
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors honored volunteers from all five districts in recognition of April as Volunteer Appreciation Month.
Patrick Evans came out to Riverside to accept the award after doing the morning weather, a trait of dedication that Supervisor Perez said he has seen with his community involvement over the 20 years he has known him.
“I am very proud to announce and honor and present the Fourth District Volunteer of the Year Award to Mr. Patrick Evans,” said Supervisor Perez. “Over the years that I have known this man, Patrick has been one individual that, whenever I go to different events, no matter where they are in the Coachella Valley, guess who’s there? Patrick Evans. And he does it in his own way… Patrick is second to none, he never asks for anything in return, he just shows up… Patricio, congratulations buddy, you deserve this award!”
Supervisor Perez presented Patrick Evans with a proclamation that cites how he “is always giving his time,” whether it’s helping an event for a charity, serving on boards of nonprofits, and using his talents to cook and sing. He has been actively involved in the Coachella Valley community which has been his home for the past 23 years.
“I have the privilege of working with a lot of different nonprofits throughout the Coachella Valley,” said Patrick Evans. “I’m very lucky to be in the profession that I’m in. It gives me a bit of visibility that I’m able to then help elevate other organizations by using the platform that I’ve been given. I appreciate the recognition today, it’s humbling and I’m very grateful.”
