Supervisor Perez Proud of California State Budget that Bolsters Local Priorities
PALM DESERT – Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, representing the Fourth Supervisorial District of Riverside County, praises Governor Gavin Newsom’s approval of SB 129, a major portion of the state budget agreement that contains funding for addressing several key local priorities.
In addition to funding the operations of state government, the California budget includes $30 million for Oasis Mobile Home Park relocation, $7 million towards the Coachella Valley Water District’s Avenue 66 Transmission Main in Mecca and the eastern Coachella Valley, and $3 million for the Palo Verde College Child Development Center Relocation and Expansion Project in Blythe. All these allocations came as budget requests submitted by State Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia.
“I thank Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia for championing these budget requests for our communities,” said Supervisor Perez. “What Assemblymember Garcia accomplished in getting these important budget asks across the finish line and especially getting this funding for Oasis Mobile Home Park residents to live in safer and better housing, is extraordinary and will have incredible benefits to our communities. This state budget is bold and brings unprecedented resources to address issues of great importance, such as housing, the need for clean drinking water, infrastructure, and child care and early education.”
