Resource Assistance Center for Families Impacted in Desert Hot Springs Mobile Home Park Fire to Open Tomorrow

DESERT HOT SPRINGS – The Riverside County Emergency Management Department, in coordination with the City of Desert Hot Springs, county departments and state agencies, is opening a resource assistance center Friday, July 28, for families impacted in last week’s fire at a mobile home park in Desert Hot Springs.
The center, which will be at Desert Hot Springs High School, is designed to provide services to all residents of the Country Squire RV and Mobile Home Park, with specific focus on the 45 to 50 residents that occupied the destroyed or damaged homes.
Agencies will be available to provide services that include obtaining vital records, tax preparation, insurance, employment, public health, housing and social services.
“The county is continuing to expedite bringing resources for the residents through our Emergency Management Department, working closely with the Mayor and the City Council of Desert Hot Springs, our Assemblymembers Greg Wallis and Eduardo Garcia and our Congressman Raul Ruiz to see how potentially we can get more resources out here,” said Supervisor V. Manuel Perez. “We still have 11 families that are displaced, we need to make sure we assist them in transitioning into somewhere stable and have wraparound services available for them. Our goal at the end of the day as the county is that we are the safety net, we will step in any which way we can and do everything we can to be helpful.”
State Assemblymember Greg Wallis states, “It’s vital to ensure we partner with the appropriate agencies so our residents have the resources they need to get back on their feet. With the state’s help, we are working to assist those who are displaced and prevent this from happening again.”
The center is expected to be open Friday through Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
The Riverside County Housing and Workforce Solutions Department has engaged the Fair Housing Council of Riverside County to advocate on behalf of residents for clean up at the site. Fair Housing will be participating in the assistance center and will be available to answer questions from residents.
