North Shore Fire Station Grand Opening Scheduled Saturday

NORTH SHORE – The brand new North Shore Fire Station, the first new fire station in the county’s unincorporated communities in a decade, is ready to go into service and open its doors to the community in a grand opening celebration this Saturday, December 2.

This new and long awaited North Shore Fire Station 41 replaces the fire station that has served North Shore since 1964. The modern and energy-efficient facility will be a significant upgrade in improving conditions for the fire personnel stationed in North Shore, as well as in fire response.

The ribbon cutting of North Shore Fire Station 41 will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2. The station is located at 99-054 Sea View Dr., North Shore, CA 92254. The community is invited to attend and celebrate North Shore Fire Station 41.

“This new fire station is a state-of-the-art station for our firefighters and community,” said Supervisor V. Manuel Perez. “Our firefighters are our first responders and they take care of our communities, and we need to do our best to make sure we take care of them as well. I want to thank our Chief, and our firefighters for the good work, as well as our constituents for advocating for this effort and I appreciate my colleagues and our county staff for finding a way to build out this much-needed fire station.”

The North Shore Fire Station 41 project was led by the Riverside County Facilities Management Department, with Holt Architecture of Palm Desert and construction contractor Tilden-Coil Constructors of Riverside. The station was an estimated $11.1 million project.

Riverside County Fire Chief Bill Weiser states, “The new build of North Shore Fire Station 41 will be a home to our firefighters for decades to come. This replacement facility wouldn’t be possible without the vision and support of Supervisor Perez and the entire supervisorial board members, as well as the Riverside County executive staff. This station has been years in the planning and it’s fantastic to see it standing, ready to be in service for the citizens and guests of North Shore and the lower Coachella Valley.”

The fire station includes living quarters, a large kitchen, individual bedrooms and additional restrooms to provide first responders more privacy and reduce the spread of illness. The fire station also includes state-of-the-art, environmentally efficient systems for cleaning the fire personnel personal protective equipment, or PPE.

A larger apparatus bay is also a feature of the facility, which is a much-needed upgrade, and will allow for fire trucks to be parked and protected from harsh desert weather elements. A carport for station staff parking, gym and backup power generator are also added features for this long-awaited facility.

This is the first major investment in the county when it comes to our fire station facilities in a decade. Funding was made possible by solar mitigation fees, development impact fees (DIF), county fire department annual budget funds and the Riverside County Public Safety Sales Tax Fund.

Supervisor V. Manuel Perez represents the Fourth Supervisorial District on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.
